No stt charges for buy options

The STT is applicable on options only on the sell side, so since while writing options, you are selling first, on squaring off what you will be doing is a buy, so there is no STT when you square off this position. You have already paid the STT at 0.05% of the premium you receive when you do the writing.

If open buy position in options end of expiry then stt charges 0.125% @ strike price, if close your position before expiry stt charges 0.05 %. …
