50L+ losses in F&O. How to recover?

Rather, one is trying to blame others for your own mistakes.

You don’t bet big capital until you have something that works. But people do, and then they lose and then they complain and cry.
Keep capital so small that it doesnt matter until you have something that works.

Once you have something that works, we also need to keep risk in control so that one doesnt lose it all if what worked doesnt work anymore.

Thats not true, but if you don’t have something that works, or if that something stops working - then find something else that works. If you cant find it, then stop trading or trade with tiny capital just for research/practice/timepass.

Likely false, execution costs are very high for us, we need to try and capture bigger moves. But if this works for you then good. My guess is that it doesn’t considering what you said above and perhaps you just got something new that you think works.

Anyway good luck.

UPDATE FROM OP
After a brief pause after writing my ordeal here, I got back to FnO trading with the help of Bajaj OD I applied for 28 Lacs. For the first 3 weeks, I made 15 Lacs in Equity & Crudeoil options.

And one Friday (Sensex expiry), I lost 2 Lac which triggered in me the revenge trading mindset. I was so critical with myself how could I lost and tried to recover the next week and as you may guess, I lost huge - 25 lacs gone in 3 days. And never really got up from that and kept losing all that I have.

I thought with OD and those initial profits, my life has changed for better and I could recover rest of my losses in a few months. But my indiscipline pulled back into more mess.

Survival became tough, thoughts of giving up on life spiked and I decided to go home for a few months and I informed my office. Friends helped me then to cover my monthly EMIs for those 2 months but I started to trade from January 2025 again. This time with minimal capital of 60K and very little risk with little position size, made 1 Lac in that month alone. I was again on high spirits, tried higher risk, made 40K losses in Feb but recovered in March but then lost 11 Lacs in one single day. This time I used up my Credit Cards, had to convert to EMIs.

I developed an automated script that will cut my positions if my loss goes beyond 10K and it worked well in April and May till 20th May. I lost 21 Lacs in 3 days just because I forgot to ran that script and I couldn’t take a small loss. I am now in the most depleted stage of my life - financially, physically and emotionally.

I wish I never started this at all or exited when I faced my first biggest loss. I got promoted, my salary grew but I still fall short of meeting these EMIs each month. And I am looking for someone/ somewhere to bail me out everytime.

I wish people really know that it takes a lot of learning and emotional stability to trade. I wish people stay cautious reading stories like mine. I wish I could tell this forum one last time before I give up on everything. It was nice learning your experiences but I just couldn’t succeed and here I rest!

  1. Stop playing lottery. Why do you think money can be recovered quickly. It doesn’t work like that.
  2. Assume that with adequate risk control, best you can do is say 20% per year. Does that excite you ? If not, why bother trading
  3. Taking loan to trade, and that too without having your own trading capital, is highest form of stupidity. Dont do this ever again.
  4. Banks don’t give out loans that they think wont be returned. So your current income should be able to cover your loans. Do what you can to meet and exceed your income over loans. Improve skills, change jobs, do freelance in addition etc. I dont know if bankruptcy is possible in India, you can look at what can be done to reduce monthly outgo.
    This is from google, dunno
individual insolvency: Struggling with debt? Here is how individual insolvency works in India - The Economic Times
  5. After all this time, i hope you understand that you cannot do this anymore. No long term profitable trader makes 50% in 3 weeks and loses it all in 3 days. This is gambling, nothing else. You can keep blaming emotions and knowledge but the risk you are taking is completely out of order and will also trigger emotional response.
  6. Stop being an idiot, do the work and you can get out of it. Don’t play lottery with borrowed money. Better to not play lottery at all. Good luck.

“This time with minimal capital of 60K and very little risk with little position size, made 1 Lac in that month alone”

this is your statement, it is like 166% return on capital in 1 month!

A professional trader would aim to make 1.5-2% max to max in a month!

No way it involves “very little risk”, surely it is hero zero trade or something like a big gamble that can put you on road!

Get your risk management set first!

Only your last statement makes very sense:

“I wish people really know that it takes a lot of learning and emotional stability to trade. I wish people stay cautious reading stories like mine. I wish I could tell this forum one last time before I give up on everything. It was nice learning your experiences but I just couldn’t succeed and here I rest!”

No use of giving any advice. This thread is full of them. He won’t follow. Not sure why he even posts here.

Absolutely agree. The concept of quick money instead of big money has corrupted the society. People chasing the new dopamine highs instead of really understanding the underlying asset value and concepts. Sad but that’s what investing has become.

Saw a recent news article where a new quick commerce platform Pronto raised 17cr from VC. Absolutely depressing to see how there is so much money being poured into a market that already has so much competition and is already a loss-making one, that exploits the country youth instead of creating real value for the economy. Country and major youth going down the drains. Time to build a lifeboat.
