AMA with Zerodha's core team

Also @siva , I don’t think that console section is working now. I have unrealised gains from July 2023 and it’s not showing up in LTCG

Text there has to be updated to 1.25L exception too

You need to have unrealised loss. Gains aren’t part of the report because there’s no actionable there.

I meant we don’t push it to clients, but we already provide the report on console if you are making any loss and if you can use it.

I meant using 1.25L exception. That is also tax harvesting?

So I can sell upto 1.25 L of unrealised LTCG without paying taxes

Hey Zerodha Team,

First of all, I want to sincerely thank you for providing such a wonderful platform. I truly appreciate the simplicity and top-notch quality you offer. I’m also grateful for the friendly nature of the community moderators and support staff.

I’ve noticed that many people are asking about new features or upcoming updates, so I thought I’d take a different approach and ask some lighthearted and insightful questions instead. Here they are:

  1. What’s one thing about Zerodha that makes you proud to work here, beyond the products and services?
  2. What has been the most rewarding moment for you while working at Zerodha?
  3. What’s the most memorable feedback you’ve received from a Zerodha customer?
  4. Can you share a behind-the-scenes moment that you think would surprise or inspire Zerodha’s customers?
  5. What’s one core value at Zerodha that has remained unchanged since the company’s inception?
  6. What’s a fun fact about Zerodha that most people might not know?

Again, thank you so much for everything you do :hugs:

Unfortunately, i believe the AMA session is over.

So, not sure if we will get an answer.

I believe this thread turned into a support or feature request post instead of AMA that they were expecting :joy:

The AMA was a recorded conversation, took us a bit of time to put it all together. We will share it along with an update post in the next few days.

Ah, this report is for tax loss harvesting. Applying these other deductions and exceptions isn’t part of it.

If you received an email with the CMR without requesting it, it likely indicates an account modification or a BSDA/non-BSDA conversion. There’s no need to worry, but let us DM you to gather more details. We can check the logs and confirm the exact reason for the email.

Request is to have a report for that 1.25L. I second this feature request. Will be very helpful. Currently, I check for the quantity in long term holdings, sell it and need to calculate myself if I have exceed 1.25L or not.

You can know if you have exceeded the ₹1.25L by looking at the Realised gains section of the
Tax-loss harvesting opportunity report

All you have to do is remove ₹1.25L from the total realised gains shown in the report, to determine the amount of excess gains that can be adjusted against losses.

I believe the update @tallerballer was looking for was that the Tax-loss harvesting report still mentioned ₹1L as the exemption limit for LTCG, instead of the revised ₹1.25L👇

We will change this.

Is the company finodha related to zerodha or did they inspired the named from Zerodha. Can you claim copyright.
Their homepage says Introducing Finodha, Seems like banking on zerodha name’s goodwill.
@nithin @VenuMadhav

They’re not related to us in anyway. Let me check on the copyright bit. Thanks for letting us know though :+1:

Edit - On the copy right - since it is not similar/similar sounding/or deceptive to a prospective client in any way, we can’t claim it to be an issue.

When opening their homepage it says Introducing Finodha, It sounded like they’re banking on your compay name

Although the first syllables differ, since the phonetics are similar, it could be a potential case for copyright violation.

To a customer of average intelligence and imperfect recollection this could likely be deceptive

This reminds me of an article on OREO v/s FAB!O relating to copyright. You can check it out and see if you can consider this to be a copyright violation.

Thanks! I’ll report this to our legal team

I looked at it, the resemblance between the two brands, both selling cream biscuits, the packaging everything is super identical, and there’s a big chance that a consumer may get confused. I don’t think it’s the same here, the other business is not even in our line of business, and hence I don’t think the copyright enforcement stands.
