Can I short sell any nifty option say 29 May 2014 CE 6900 and hold position till expiry or do I need to square off my short position the same day?

You can initiate any derivative position such as…

  1. Buy Futures

  2. Sell Futures

  3. Buy Call

  4. Sell Call

  5. Buy Put

  6. Sell Put

  7. Combination of all of above

Anytime during the validity of the series and hold on to it starting from the time you initiate all the way to expiry.

You could square it off the same second, same hour, same day, next day etc…or just leave it expire on the expiry day.
