Whenever company pays dividend, price of stock corrects to the extent of dividend paid on ex-date, this is because the amount paid out no longer belongs to the company. We have also explained this here.

So new share price = Share closing price on the dividend payout date - dividend amount?

Is it true only for the Interim dividend or final dividend also?

That is in theory but actual new price may be little higher or lower than that, it is based on expectations on the performance of the company.
