There is no fixed number, but lesser the better. I don’t see any point if you have more than 2 or 3 moving averages on your chart. You start adding more, it creates a lot of noise.
Do you mean the number of periods for EMA and SMA? By default, its 14. It doesn’t mean 14 days on a 5 minutes chart. But rather 14 periods. If you use daily chart, 3 will be fine…For 1 hour chart, I prefer 72 periods…
