Capital required for options trading?

I wanted to do some options trading. Have 10k in my trading account. But when I tried to place an order. It just gets rejected.

How much do I need in my account to successfully trade options? Also I was unable to see margin requirement for options in Zerodha Span Calculator.

When you are buying options, you need the entire premium amount. So if you are buying 1000 options trading at Rs 1, that means you will need Rs 1000. Suggest you to go through the options module here: http://zerodha.com/varsity/
