In market depth screen, what does total no. signify ? does it shows total quanity of top 5 bid or it is overall no. of buyer or seller in that stock? Also, if total buyer is more then seller does that mean stock price certainly go up ?
The total quantity is the total number of buyers and sellers in that scrip.
No, if the buy quantity is more, then it does not imply that the stock price will go up. It only implies that buy quantity is more, this could also be done to mislead traders by placing large bid quantities at very low prices to show an artificial increase in bid quantity. The stock could very well fall after that even if the bid quantity is more.
The increase in bid quantity should be in conjunction with the increase in price of the stock. Then it could imply that more genuine buyers are coming in.
