Ah no, only on the day you sell you are charged Rs 13.5. Will have this reworded on the website.

So if you hold 10 companies and you sell it after 2 years, you will be paying only Rs 135 on that day you sold it.

Thank you @nithin

Is it always flat 13.5 per script or 13.5 or some Percentage whichever is minimum?

It’s always flat Rs.13.5.

I wasn’t aware of this. So does selling in small quantities of low valued stocks on different days would result in high percentage slippage?. True, the brokerage is zero with zerodha & this zero brokerage makes us feel cost is negligible. I think zerodha should update brokerage calculators with these slippages with more such scenarios & may be rename it as slippage calculator.

Where can I see the itemised total slippage per trade? I guess trade book lists some cost as common cost at header level & this is confusing.

Even in regards to DP charge we are the lowest in India. Most of the big boys charge 0.03% with minimum Rs 30.

It is not possible to calculate slippage due to DP on per trade since DP charge is applied only once a day even if you have multiple trades. So not possible to show on brokerage calculator which calculates charges per trade.

In they case, can we show proportional DP per trade please?

How do you show proportional without knowing how many trades a client would do in a day? Brokerage calculator just captures one trade.

It is known at the end of the trading day & as far as I know trade book in Q is updated only on end of trading hours. If it’s not, then at least for past trading days, it’s known so should be possible. Is it not?

DP charges paid by you is available on ledger on q.zerodha.com. I was replying to your question on why it can’t be shown on brokerage calculator. Since the calculator considers one trade at a time, there is no way to predict what the DP charge will be.

Oh ok. If it’s available in ledger proportionally per trade basis , it’s perfect. I will take a look again. Sorry to miss it.

I think we can extend the brokerage calculator to include information with example of multiple trades , BO, CO, MIS -CNS inter conversion etc. where we users are not very clear. These do get asked on the forum again & again. What cant be shown as a calculator, could be shown as a detailed example please?

Can you please also show it in the P&L reports. Other charges are shown there but not the DP charges. I am not too sure if they help in taxation but they do give an idea to a person about the total charges incurred per X amount of profit.

These charges may be small, but compared to other charges involved in a trade these are very significant, especially if trade amounts are small. For eg. I have paid about Rs.650 of DP charges this year compared to other charges of about Rs. 450 (brokerage, STT etc. shown in P&L report) without even realizing!

So showing DP charges there would help a lot!

Yes, we will have it up there soon.

Getting the sentence on our website reworded to this

₹13.5 per scrip the day(irrespective of quantity) it is debited from demat account when stocks are sold. ₹5.5 per MF (irrespective of quantity) the day it is debited from demat on redemption. Charged by depository (CDSL) and depository participant (Zerodha)

Also there is a +contract note option we have given on the brokerage calculator. You can add all delivery trades, and it will show overall DP Charge.
