I want to clarify some of my doubts ,as I am beginner per trade you will be charging Rs 20 per trade and again do you charge separately for materialization and dematerialization or do you charge per share we purchase & sell or is there any deposit we have to make with you
So firstly, at Zerodha, there is no brokerage charged for equity delivery trades, both on the buying and selling side. Equity investments are brokerage free while all other types of trades cost Rs.20 or 0.01% of trade value, whichever is lower.
Ex. 1. To buy shares for holding, you have to use product type as CNC. If you buy 100 shares of Reliance using CNC in order to hold it, then no brokerage is charged for this trade.
2. If you buy 100 shares of Reliance using CNC but then sell it on the same day, it will be considered as an intraday trade. Reliance is trading at Rs.940, so your buy trade value is 940 * 100=Rs.94,000. The brokerage for this is 0.01% of 94,000 = Rs.9.4.
3. All other trades - BO/CO, MIS, NRML will cost you a brokerage of Rs.20 or 0.01% of trade value whichever is lower.
4. If you buy 250 shares of Reliance at 940 using MIS for intraday, the buy trade value is 250 * 940=Rs.2,35,000. Here, since 0.01% of trade value is greater than 20, a max. flat brokerage of only Rs.20 will be charged.
Secondly, when you buy shares for holding, they are held in the dematerialized form in your Demat account. For this service, every time you sell holdings from your Demat account, a DP charge of Rs.13.5+GST is charged per stock debit per day by the Depository, irrespective of the quantity.
Ex. 1. You sell 5 shares of Reliance from your Demat account on Day 1, a DP charge of Rs.13.5+GST is charged for this trade.
2. You sell 50 shares of Reliance from your Demat account on Day 2, a DP charge of Rs.13.5+GST is charged for this trade as well.
3. You sell 100 shares of Reliance from your Demat account on Day 3, a DP charge of Rs.13.5+GST is charged for this trade. You also sell 50 shares of TCS from your Demat account on Day 3, a DP charge of Rs.13.5+GST is charged for this trade as well.
Thirdly, there is no deposit you have to make with us but you certainly have to deposit funds in your trading account to start trading. Add as much as you wish and trade as much as you please.
Good luck!
