any real difference between buying index ETF compared to… buying underlying stocks ?
Index ETF mimics Index it is based on (Nifty, Bank Nifty, Nifty Next 50 etc.) and you can buy those for few hundred Rupees, while buying underlying stocks with exact same weightage to mimic exactly the same as Underlying will cost you in lakhs plus count additional costs for regular maintenance and rebalancing, it is not feasible.
Index ETF are better than buying stocks

Absolutely, however it may return less profit but has less volatility. Buy on dips and accumulate.
