HDFC Shareholding

  1. HDFC as company does not have any promoters. How does this work ?
  2. Around 70% is owned by FII’s. how can we know the FII holding pattern ? As this is not in Annual Report. @siva @VenuMadhav

Thank you @VenuMadhav. This does help. How does company with no fixed promoters with majority holding function ? Does retail investors need to take concerns on such holding pattern ?

Every quarter companies release it, you can collect for few quarters and know the pattern by yourself.

I think there’s no need to have a promoter, it can be run by a Board. ITC also is run that way, I believe. Usually the largest shareholder is deemed promoter.

ICICI Bank, L&T, ITC, many others don’t have promoters. They are professionally run firms.

They have board which hires management. Usually controlled by larger shareholders having more voting rights.
