How futures contacts are settled at expiry

Greetings to all the knowledgeable members present here…

Can anyone explain :-

  1. How index future contracts are settled at expiry?
    (i know index futures contacts are cash settled)

  2. How stock futures contacts are settled at expiry?
    ( i know these are settled physically)

While you’re already aware of mode of settlement (Cash for Index and Physical for Stocks). The final settlement price for Futures, be it Index or Stock, will be closing price of underlying on expiry day.
