I am an NRI. Can I open trading account as a normal citizen?

Is it must that I should open NRI trading account? Can I use the old demat & trading account I have before becoming an NRI?

Many people do use the same old account, but it is not advisable as ideally when your status changes to NRI, you should change your bank and hence the trading accounts to an NRI account.
