So does this mean we can day trade freely in the US market using a cash account?

I think it is only for investment purpose.
I also received the account upgrade prospect. The one thing that attracts me is crude oil ETF and silver ETF that are not available in India. But again it is very risky as i am not clear in rules and regulations tax rules etc.
