Honestly? Less gyaan 😂. Tell me what I need to know, let me start small and don’t throw 50 finance terms at me.

Still, beginner friendly doesn’t mean risk free. I’d check what the money is invested in, understand the risks and only put in what I can actually afford.

InGood is trying to solve some of that with Flex SIP, Daily SIP and Auto Invest SIP. I’m connected with InGood, so this is a disclosed product mention, not me pretending to be a random customer.

I’d want a really simple product and a small entry amount. The idea of putting a big amount somewhere I don’t fully understand is scary.

Considering the current market scenario, investing in Bonds and may be buying ETFs for long term can be a safe bet as of now. Equity can be very risky especially for a beginner.

Flexibility is a big one too. My first investment shouldn’t feel like I have signed a lifelong contract with 2k Rupee every month lol.

A few simple things that usually help a first-timer:

1. Build an emergency fund first (roughly 3-6 months of expenses in a savings account or liquid fund) and get basic term + health insurance if the employer cover is thin.
2.
  1. Start with a monthly SIP in a low-cost Nifty 50 index fund (direct plan). One fund is enough to begin; no need to pick stocks.

3.
  1. If he pays tax under the old regime, ELSS or PPF can double up for 80C. Under the new regime that benefit doesn’t apply, so keep it simple.

4.
  1. Start small, increase the SIP with each raise, and avoid F&O and tips from Telegram/YouTube.

5.
  1. Zerodha Varsity’s personal finance module is a good free read to learn at his own pace.
