Ignore the noise and keep investing. Markets reward discipline

On any given day our financial media makes an amazing job of peddling doom and gloom theories. Take the past few months alone. It was:
RBI Vs Govt, Oil Crisis, Rupee Depreciation, Falling Industrial Productivity, RBI Governor Resigns, Worries Over BJP not winning the state election and countless other reasons. But the thing is markets reward those who have patience and discipline. Here’s a beautiful illustration of S&P 500.

The chart of Nifty 50 is almost the same minus the annotations

Of course, there is a whole lot of hindsight bias but the fact that the probability of you doing well if you are disciplined and stick it out is indisputable.

Yeah, absolutely right.
These noises are the times which differentiates a novice and an experienced investor.
Often, novice investor panic during these times seeing their investments in red and liquidate their investments. But, for an experienced investor, these noises are just the opportunities to accumulate more and more stocks.
But I think that SIP is an excellent tool which enables even a novice investor to act like a sophisticated, intelligent investor and automatically makes him buy more during these times.
