If I sell LIQUIDCASE today, will I be able to get funds to my bank a/c by eod today?
In case of liquid fund held with coin, I got the funds on T+1 morning before 12 pm.
You can withdraw at 10am, with some limits. Search for instant withdrawal
Not on the same day as settlement happens on T+1 day, so you can withdraw the proceeds received on the next day.
In that case, liquid fund is better than ETF for emergency as I receive the redemption amount on T+1 (coin) for liquid fund while for ETF it would be T+2. On T+1, I would have the amount in demat account and on T+2 I would have it in my bank account.
ETF also T+1 now. You can withdraw on T+1 day with limits
@nithin Any updates on this? Is INSTANT REDEMPTION possible on any fund house, any fund type on COIN?
Hi @Akshay_Mane we are working on this facility with a few AMCs, wont promise a time line as of now but we will start offering it on coin soon.
Hi @nithin @Neelesh Thank’s for the response. I do understand Finance + Tech is challenging, adventurous and time consuming. Can i help in development/testing for speedy release of new features pending since quiet a while now?
I have worked in SBI, CISCO, ServiceNOW for 5.5 yrs and have done my MTech CS from BITS Pilani. AkshayMane_Resume_v28.pdf - Google Drive Let me know ![]()
Hi @Akshay_Mane, this is something that is not allowed in a demat mode industry-wide, and the challenge is that the AMCs and RTA have to do the development around it
You can send your resume to [email protected]. In case we have any openings, we will reach out to you.
Thanks for details @Neelesh. Its sad to see that demat mode has many limitations for which AMC, RTA, ZERODHA are not been able to find a solution.
Unfortunately, Those who want STP, INSTA Redemption facility, TRUE SIP…will have to rely on other brokers.
Btw Came across this post 6 years ago, Even back then many platforms like kuvera, paytm money, many AMC are offered INSTA REDEMPTION.
https://www.reddit.com/r/IndiaInvestments/comments/at649a/liquid_fund_insta_redemptions_walking_the_path/
Btw Why cant zerodha COIN offer both Demat & Traditional Non Demat folios both? Let users decide how they want to hold units?? @Neelesh @nithin
We are working on this.
Not as of now, but in the future, we will look into the possibilities.
I see the NFO for Zerodha Overnight Fund is on. Might be a good time for Coin to support Insta redemption ![]()
@nithin Awaiting this feature since 4 years . if you do this . I will put up a Zerodha banner on my window balcony , thanking you ![]()
I also need this feature, I don’t want to use any other extra app and increase management complexity.
At least for Zerodha AMC you can provide the feature.
Since Zerodha has launched its own AMC and overnight fund, it’s high time they allowed withdrawals up to 90% of the invested amount in the Zerodha overnight fund. This is a must-have feature, especially since overnight funds are primarily used for emergencies.
We’ve been waiting for this feature for a long time, so please bring it forward.
Currently Instant redemption is available only in non-demat mode. In demat mode, instant redemption isn’t possible because units need to be freed by the depository first.
Current demat mode process:
The depository runs unit reconciliation twice daily:
∙ 4 PM for equity mutual funds
∙ 7:30 PM for liquid mutual funds
This means redemptions in demat mode can only process after these reconciliation windows, making instant redemption impossible.
Upcoming infra changes:
RTAs and DPs are working on API enhancements for dematerialization, BENPOS and other things. Their goal is to run reconciliation multiple times during the day for demat mode, which would enable faster redemptions. However, this is a few years away from being implemented.
Current workaround:
Zerodha Fund House already offers instant redemption up to ₹50,000 in non-demat mode through their WhatsApp flow as well as the website. This works because non-demat units don’t require depository reconciliation and can be redeemed directly through the RTA.
Until the depository infrastructure upgrades, instant redemption in demat mode remains technically unfeasible for any AMC, including ZFH. Once this process dependency is eliminated, we will launch insta redemption on Coin.
You can’t invest in non-demat or SOA mode via Coin. We are complete demat.
Non-demat units can be pledged, but the mechanism is different from how it functions in demat mode and as of now the facilities is not available with us
This needs to be called out on the fund page. A few months ago I had raised a support ticket with ZFH and they mentioned this was not supported.
Also while investing through the WhatsApp flow, the investment is made in the existing Coin demat folio for existing investors (I have existing investments in Zerodha LM250 fund through Coin). There’s no option to create a new non-demat folio through the WhatsApp flow. So this option doesn’t seem to be feasible for me, let me know if I have missed anything.
