Intraday on the same stock which is in hold

Hello,

Assume that I had purchased 100 shares (let it be X), each share @ Rs:1000/- on 1-Jun-2016 and again I bought 100 shares at 950 on 1-Jun-2017. Now I have total of 200 shares.
If I sell 100 shares @ 970 on the same day 01-jun-2017.
Now how the trading will happen?
Is the new 100 shares buy and sell treat like an intraday or it effect the holdings and make an average price.

Since you’re squaring off positions on the same day you’re making an intra-day profit of Rs. 2000 @ Rs. 20 each for 100 shares. Your original holdings are not disturbed.

Exploring a different scenario:

You purchase 100 shares of X @ Rs. 1000/- each on 1-Jun-16. Next you purchase 100 shares of X @950/- each on 1-Jun-17. You now have 200 shares.
On 10-Jun-17 you sell 150 shares @ Rs. 970/-. First-In-First-Out method applies. It is deemed you’re first making sales out of your 100 shares of 1-Jun-16 holdings and then 50 shares out of 1-Jun-17 holdings.

Therefore, on 10-Jun-17 your Long Term Capital Loss is (Rs. 3000). And your STCG is Rs. 1000. Further, you’re holding 50 shares at a price of Rs. 950 each.

Hope this helps. Cheers.
