Introducing Kite MCP: Connect your Kite account to AI assistants

Thanks for your insight @Sachin_Yadav1, we’ll check this.

Hi team, notable to move after downloading Claude - for Mac - couldn’t find edit setting for changing it to developer

@Khushboo_Jain @Vikash_Jalan @Viswanadhapalli_Goka @Arnab_Sen @daniel94charles The issue with Claude is fixed, you may verify it from your end.

@DrShilpa You may refer to this YouTube video for setup details.

Do we need to reinstall everything or it should just work as is now?

Just checked (without reinstalling) the error is still there.

To troubleshoot, please open the MCP configuration file and verify that the server details are correctly set as mentioned here.

If the configuration looks correct, please try the following steps:

  • Uninstall the Claude desktop app.
  • Delete the app data completely to ensure a clean setup.
  • Reinstall the app and try again.

Did uninstall and then install.

Getting the exact same error.

  1. If you’re using an office internet connection (e.g., office Wi-Fi or LAN), it may be routing traffic through a firewall or proxy that blocks or modifies secure connections. In this case, we recommend switching to a different network, such as a mobile hotspot or home Wi-Fi, and then retrying the Kite MCP.

  2. If you’re not on an office network, the issue might be related to how your system or Node.js handles certificates. Please try installing the latest Node.js LTS version and then retry running the MCP.

Sorry, done both still not working…

If you are still facing the same issue, you may create a ticket with the latest log file to check further.

how to connect it to cursor

  • Open the Cursor Desktop application
  • Go to Settings

  • Under Cursor Settings, select MCP Tools.

  • Click on “Add Custom MCP” and enter the following configuration:

  • Save your changes and restart Cursor.
  • Once Cursor restarts, open the Chat panel, click on @Add context, select mcp.json, and choose Agent as the chat mode…

  • Finally, run the mcp command to check if Kite appears as an available MCP server. When prompted, just follow the steps to authorize your Zerodha account to connect with Cursor.

when this feature will be available with ChatGPT

You’ll be able to use Kite MCP in any other LLM, such as ChatGPT, Claude, etc, as long as the MCP feature is enabled. If the MCP integration feature isn’t available yet, we’ll need to wait until the LLM rolls it out.

so does ChatGPT has the MCP feature yet or not ?

There’s no native MCP integration in ChatGPT itself.

I had the same issues, from the log i found the node.js what I had in my machine was V16 where as the recent claude needs version > 18. I uninstalled the old node.js and downloaded and installed the latest node v 24. Restarted claude, it worked

I’m not able to use this MCP because each time I ask somthing, it hits the maximum length limit. I’ve over 200 holdings. (most of them from smallcase) so do a filter so that it doesn’t hit limits.

“Maximum length” error means your conversation’s context window—the total tokens of all messages and prompts—has been exceeded, not your daily message cap. On the free tier, that context window is variable and can shrink under heavy load, making it significantly smaller than paid plans.

  • To avoid overflow, start new threads when using Kite MCP via Claude.
  • You can also use Kite MCP via other AI assistants in Windsurf, Cursor, or VS Code, as alternatives.

I could login and find it useful. I would like to sign-off or disconnect from Calude. How to do this?
