Introduction of Weekly Options Contracts on NIFTY IT INDEX

NSE has announced the introduction of weekly contracts on the NIFTY IT index. Here are the contract specifications.

Expiry date Every Thursday of the week. In case the Thursday is a trading holiday, the previous trading day shall be the expiry/last trading day. All contracts shall expire at the normal market closing time on the expiry day or such other time as decided by Exchange.
Contract cycle 7 weekly expiry contracts excluding the expiry week of monthly contract. New serial weekly options contract shall be introduced after expiry of the respective week’s contract.
Strikes Price Interval 6-1-6 strikes (In the money -At the money -Out of the money) with 100 point interval.

Note: All other contract specifications shall be in line with the monthly expiring NIFTYIT option contracts.

These contracts will commence trading from March 11th, 2019

Would these contracts be liquid enough to trade.

Monthly does not have any volumes… wonder if weekly would have any volumes either!

Might actually work.

Nifty IT has two stocks carrying weightage of close to 50%. Easy to manipulate. Great instrument if few large brokers can join hand and write options.

Now traders have to be alert. Booking profit is easy but chances of loss is also very high in weekly nifty expiry.
