I read a message that says that if I buy a stock today I will able to sell it only after 2 days, i.e. not the next day. Unless it is credited in the CDSL.

Is this true ? Why is this implemented ?
Does it have any significance ? Why are the respective authority implementing meaningless rules that affect us ?
