Is Introducing the concept of weekly expiry in Banknifty contracts a benificial step for small traders?

That depends on how one uses them but I personally believe it is of less beneficial for small traders. Weekly options are introduced so as to provide better hedging opportunities but small traders won’t be having big portfolios which are required to be hedged, hence they end up as speculators and loose money.

Unless if one is having a equity portfolio and want to hedge it by buying puts for an outcome of pending event which may have severe impact I believe it is appropriate to stay out of weekly bank nifty options for small traders.

exactly…our regulators making things worse for us…we can’t even select our way of trading…like this banknifty…big traders just start selling the options from the very first day of series and then they enjoy the premium reduction magic!!
