Is it true that soon we need Rs.3 lac to do intraday trading in Crude oil?

I heard that SEBI is reducing intraday leverages from Dec 1. Right now the margin to trade Crude is less, some brokers even offering Rs.5000 to trade crude oil. Once new rule gets implemented, one need Rs.3 lac to trade crude? Is this true?

This new rule will make people jump into options buying right> since the capital for option buying is low unlike 3lac in futures? We can see increase in liquidity in options, right?

Date of implementation of new margin rules is from October 1st.

Yes, once implemented, there will be no leverage offered to trade using Intraday orders (MIS, CO), margin requirements will be same as margins required to take overnight positions.

But we can trade in Crude oil with low capital in Options right?

Buying Options doesn’t require margin, Selling Options does and margins will be more or less similar to Futures.

Why sell when we could buy pe

@Hem_Oza It’s not the same . Probability of winning for selling is more than buying .
Let’s assume nifty is at 11516.10 . So ATM strike is 11500 . If you view is bullish you can buy PE or sell CE
CASE 1 : If you buy NIFTY 24SEP 11500 CE@ Rs.130
CASE2 : If you sell NIFTY 24SEP 11500 PE@ Rs.100

Your view is bullish . If you buy CE you will make money only if market is highly bullish.
If you sell PE you will make money if market is moderately bullish , sideways , moderately bearish . You will only lose if the market is highly bearish .
In case 1 you make money if market expires above 11630 (strike+premium paid) . But is case 2 you make money if market expires above 11400 . Even if market expires at 11401 you make some minor profits .
So buying PE and selling CE or vice versa are not same . They make be same in the directional view , both (buying PE and selling CE or vice versa ) means that you are expecting to come down or shoot up (according to trade you take ). But the payoff graph and functionality is different .

I have a question for you when sebi said they are going to reduce margin in phases why does @ShubhS9 above says from oct all leverage will be gone

That was on August 1st, since then much has happened. As things stand leverage for Intraday F&O will start reducing from December 1st and will be obsolete by September 2021. Request you to read this post for more information.
