Motive behind terming "buyers and sellers" as "bulls and bears"

What could be the motive behind terming “buyers and sellers” as “bulls and bears” while other creatures of god were also considered to be opposites?

  1. Bulls: Throws you up, and hence market going up is called bullish.

  2. Bear: Crushes you, hence market coming down is called bearish.
