MTF closed beta for TradingQ&A users

AMO for mtf should come in a weeks time but conversion will take more time.

We will increase it in coming few weeks based on user feedback.

Any update for gtt mtf segment !!

GTT for MTF will take more time.

Use ATO for now. Though both are not the same , MTF orders can be punched with a predefined trigger price.

profit from MTF position will consider as Short Term Capital Gains or Business income ?

Will be treated as capital gains (either Short term or long term)

can we deduct interest from profit ?

You can.

Sir, You have been recommending to use ATO for MTF till the time GTT for MTF is not ready. But please note that ATO does not have facility like that of GTT where we could compare real time price with the our price in ATO also ATO does have any facility to download data. ATO does not show on screen about the BUY or SELL order we have placed if ATO get triggered. There are so much limitation in ATO. Do you have any plan to make ATO to have similar facility like that of GTT?

If i sell my current long term CNC portfolio and have a fesh margin equivalent to sale proceeds infused in the account and on the same day 2 trades are placed (margin is enough to cover all pledging/statutory charges)

CNC SELL & MTF Buy of same scrips & same qty

As position is closed by set off will it classify as Intraday trade and thus just involving monetary settlement for the positions and no scrips will be debited from my demat right?

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong

This is not allowed, can check this.

Example given in the link is of 0 margin balance at start of the day

My example
1,50,000 Margin at start of the day
For easy calculation
If i jave 100 Reliance EQ at mkt value of ₹1500 each

And MTF leverage is 5x

If i sell 100 Reliance EQ then my sale proceed will be 150000

And on the same day if
I bought 100 Reliance EQ MTF on the same day from my margin infused in the begining of trading session (30,000)

This would unlock my capital exposing me to risk of leverage

Thus sale proceed is not used for this transaction & there will be no risk of shortfall of margin as Fresh Margin is infused at the begining and is sufficient

And such setoff can qualify for Intraday and it can be easily converted from CNC to MTF with benefit of leverage

Will demat be debited in this case ? Or just pledge request will be sent without transaction in demat

I meant it works the same irrespective of balance, because after mtf trade one can use remaining balance to take other trades, again then the same as above scenario so we don not allow at all irrespective of balance.

We have added separate filter for mtf, also now we only provide NSE feeds for holding which has mtf on it.

This is literally unbelievable. Zerodha listened and delivered within a few weeks. I am grateful for these changes. Thank you so much.

Checked today. NSE prices are being shown in MTF holdings. It isn’t real time though… Would appreciate if this last bit could be addressed too. Whatever the price is in the marketwatch should at any second correlate with the MTF NSE holdings LTP too, @siva

After how many days you sell mtf share for negative balance? My 1 stock is positive and 1 is negative. So, you sell both or only negative return stocks?

If the client account is in debit and the client lost 20% of the initial margin, we will square off the MTF position anytime proportionately to recover the debit balance. The loss-making position will be given priority. Always maintain a positive balance in the account.

We need MTF to CNC as soon as possible (maybe yesterday). I was not aware that it was launched without this critical feature - how can you? I am into one MTF position and I am badly stuck forever. I had 50 normal Asian Paints shares in my demat. Then I bought 20 more under MTF at a much lower price. Now even if I arrange for additional funds, I cannot convert them to CNC because you don’t have that feature. And I cannot close the MTF position because it will sell them from my normal shares (as they were bought earlier). It will not only jeopardize my P&L, I have to sell everything out to close the MTF positions. Selling only those 20 shares that are under MTF - won’t close the position. What a bad situation yaar! On top of everything, the interest is getting added every day although I now have sufficient money!
