Nifty Option Freeze Limit

Hello. For Nifty, the freeze limit for an order is 36 lots. So, if I am adopting spread strategy, how this will play out? Let me explain. Say, I want to adopt short strangle strategy. So I would have to sell OTM CE and ITM PE. In this case, for one order, can I sell 36 lots of both options? Or do I have to sell 18 + 18 lots of both option which amounts to total 36 lots? Thanks.

36 on each side.

When you place orders from Baskets each Instrument entry is considered to be a separate order and hence the Freeze Limit is calculated separately for each order, that is each Leg of the strategy.

I was under the impression that current freeze limit is 56 Lots for Nifty

Oh yes it is. I go by qty. 2800 qty. Above 17500 qty freeze is 1800.

Above 17500; seems you are living in future or the past :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

The Quantity Freeze limit is on per order, so you can buy or sell maximum 36 lots in one order for each of these strikes. If you want to trade higher quantity than quantity freeze limit, you can use one of Basket Order, Iceberg orders or the Sticky order window feature to overcome this limit.
