Noes higher nav not equal to higher returns

I was comparing NAV and returns of Kotak and sbi small cap direct growth plan their NAV is 192 and 129 respectively and there’s annual return comes out to be 20.92% (Kotak) and 26.86% (SBI) so I was wondering why doesn’t higher nav co-relate to higher returns

NAV can start at 10 for some funds and can start at 1000 for some funds. It does not have any significance.

Also, look at this.
