I have Reliance PE 1300 sold leg for this September month expiry. I have 7 lakhs parked in Zerodha liquidCase which is pledged. Assume I have no other positions, should I explicitly exit from liquidCase to make money available for stock delievery ? @ShubhS9 Can you please help with this ? Thanks in advance
Yes, you should
Yes, you should sell it if the share price closes below 1300 on expiry day, especially if you don’t have sufficient funds in your account. Otherwise, your account balance could go negative, and you’ll have to pay interest on the negative balance every day. You need sufficient balance to take the delivery.
Note: There will be brokerage and other charges for taking the physical delivery of shares. (around 4-5K)
@Abhijit
Damn our timing
4-5 k?
Yes. Total of all below charges is between 2.5 to 5K.
Breakdown of Delivery Charges
- Brokerage: 0.25% of the total contract value (
Strike Price × Lot Size). (For example, if the contract value is ₹8,00,000, the brokerage alone will be ₹2,00,000 × 0.25% = ₹2,000). [1, 2] - Securities Transaction Tax (STT): 0.1% on the physical delivery value (charged on the buy side). [1]
- Exchange Transaction Charges: Charged by the exchange (NSE/BSE) on the delivery turnover value. For NSE, this is 0.00322%.
- GST: 18% applied on the sum of the Brokerage and Exchange Transaction Charges.
- SEBI Charges: ₹10 per crore (0.0001%) of the turnover value.
- Stamp Duty: 0.015% on the delivery value (applicable on the buy/delivery side).
Oh , I never checked brokerage for physical delivery. Thank you.
U can roll over btw.
Or just close it and buy from market.
Hi Patel,
Sorry, I am new to matket so the terminology is bit new…roll over you mean…book the loss and move to next month PE??
Yes.
Hmm..thanks for the suggestion..But I am planning to take delivery. I had collected good premiums since the beginning of 2026 by selling cash secured put (sometimes 1200PE and some times 1300 PE). Since all ideal cash was parked in LiquidCase, it also generated some penny amount. First time it went ITM.. so planning to take delivery and sell CE even it is small premium…so basically wheel strategy. Between Can I add you to friends list for future suggestions? Any such feature here in this app to do so ? Thanks again.
It is same as roll over in this case. U will have same payoff as that of short put for next month.
I think no.
You, a responsible investor/trader is saddled with such high charges. ![]()
Meanwhile OTM weekly option gamblers pay peanuts to get in/out of a trade. ![]()
The regulator & govt. deserves the Market it has created. ![]()
It’ll be still less than buying shares directly I think.STT on direct buy is high
Ah! Zerodha charges 0.25% brokerage which moves the needle in favor of direct buy.
Even for netted contracts they charge 0.1%
2 drawbacks of taking delivery - high stt , taxes, transaction costs
knowledge of settlement process is required. Every broker has different RMS mechanisms. There is no way to communicate our intent to broker. Some may square off close to expiry.
Advantages : Long term chance of loss recovery
More efficient liquidity / pricing , especially after CAS.
