@nithin sir, Can’t you do something to protect our livelihood. Unfortunately, you seems to be promoting the same as it would be beneficial to Zerodha. Isn’t it?
Means, can you be little more detailed please? Are you from broking or AP or trader?
Of course Trader, I had been earning 3-4% per thursday expiry, but now hardly 1%.
If i take following nrml trades taking margin benefit , what will happen on Thursday end of day or the friday morning ?
buy nifty call option weekly and sell nifty call option monthly !
What will happen on weekly expiry , if I have taken trade with margin benefits. …
Starting from Wednesday of expiry week, short OTM options on stocks attract 50% margin according to physical delivery settlement.
If we (as option sellers) want to hold these positions till expiry and wait for them to become worthless, we should have more funds in our account, right? Or did I understand the context incorrectly?
Is the rule law for requirement of peak margin also applicable for intraday MtoM notional loss ?
E.g.
Suppose , e.g.
i have 1.50 lakh in my trading account . And as per the peak margin , it needs 1.50 lakh for 1 lot .
So , i could bought 1 lot only . On 11 am .
Now , there is intraday notional loss is showing 6,000 . on 2.45pm .
Will i be charged penalty on that 6000 amount?
Also :
peak margin penalty is borne by the broker and not by the client .
Am I right ?
Nope.
If broker allows without money then it is on broker but in all other cases it is on client. EX: client sold holdings, did fno intraday trade and buy back sold holding, in this case penalty is on client.
Client has hedge position, at end of closing time of market he has closed hedge leg and carried position with out enough margin, again penalty is on client.
I Shortsell nifty option on the expiry day and did not squreoff till the market close .
Will the margin get freed after 3.30 pm . So that I can use that margin to trade in currency segment?
Not freed after 3.30, one can’t use it for cds on same day.
Intraday Trading will be end on 1st September 2021 ?
No. You’ll still be able to do intraday trading, although the leverage offered will be capped to maximum 5x in equity segment, while there will be no leverage offered in F&O segment, you will have to maintain full SPAN + Exposure margin.
However with margin benefit, the fno margin requirement can be easily halved even after sept 2021
Sir, I am putting a simple example. I strictly trade in Futures. I mostly Try to not Carry Forward a Trade and try to clear it the same day. Understanding the New Rules of Margin and Leverages is getting difficult by the day. I have Rs 10 Lakhs to trade. But I trade with MIS Margins in Zerodha. So, A Futures Trade which will cost me Rs 1,60 Lakhs only Costs me Rs 65,000 in MIS. So, I trade more 5-6 lots easily. sometimes the trades go uptil 12-15 lots also.
- Is their any possibilities of Margin Penalty??
- After 6-7 trades, when I try to convert a couple of MIS positions into NRML to carry forward next day, The console doesn’t allow me to do so despite my account has Cash Margin?? Why is My Funds being blocked?? Is their any rules for that??
Please Someone Help!!
Hi Shubham @ShubhS9 can you please clarify the below doubt?
I sold a stock in cash from my existing demat holdings and as per new rules only 80% is available to buy some other stock in cash on the same day.
Questions (cash segment only):
-
When can I use the remaining 20% funds assuming early pay in happens on T day? Is it T+1 (or) T+3 after settlement happens on T+2?
-
If I can use on T+1 day due to EPI, Is this the same across brokers or only for Zerodha?
-
If EPI is not enabled on T day and stocks ate debited on T+2, then when can I use the 20% funds?
Thank you for your time.
The remaining 20% will be available for trading from the next day.
Not much idea about the process at other brokers, must be the same.
We do early payin of securitues. As explained above, the remaining 20% will be available for trading from the next day.
Hi Zerodha,
I have around 20 lakhs worth Mutual Fund Portfolio, my queries
1] Can I pledge them from other Service provider at Zerodha for Collateral
2] Or Are those MFs need to be moved to Coin and then Pledge
3] Say I get Collateral after pledging at Zerodha, can I use it for Overnight Short Options positions
4] Can I use Collateral for Overnight positions even after 100% Margin requirements as per Sebi from Sep 2021
5] Is there any requirements to have physical cash apart from Collateral
You’ll have to transfer your Mutual Fund investments to your Zerodha account before pledging. The process to transfer has been explained here.
Yes you can. The collateral margin you receive can be used for Intraday Equity, Trading Futures and Shorting Options.
Yes. You can continue to use collateral margin for trading F&O, no changes to this.
Yes. For overnight F&O positions, as stipulated by exchanges minimum 50% margin should compulsory come from cash or equivalent and remaining 50% can come from collateral margin.
Thanks…
Please share whether 50% cash applies for intraday also or for only for overnight positions
Please share what can be the Cash Equivalents
