Query regarding buying/selling quantity

Here’s an illustration of my question with example:

Let’s say I buy 100 shares of TATASTEEL on margin @365. It reaches @370 and I decide to sell.

Also, I realize that it is at the day high(@370) and it’s a good opportunity to go short. So I decide to sell 100 @370 first, and then decide to go short again @370 of a 100 shares. So in order to simplify my transaction, is it possible to sell 200 shares in a single transaction (which includes 100 shares of sell as square-off of the buy, and another 100 to short-sell) even though I have margin for only 100 shares?

To elaborate the same question in another way, is it possible to compress the following 4 steps :

  1. BUY 100 TATASTEEL @365

  2. SELL 100 TATASTEEL @370

  3. SHORT 100 TATASTEEL @370

  4. BUY BACK 100 TATASTEEL @367

Reduce to the following 3 steps:

  1. BUY 100 TATASTEEL @365

  2. SELL 200 TATASTEEL @370

  3. BUY BACK 100 TATASTEEL @367

Thanks in advance

hElLO tRaDeR,

The shortcut will not work.

You will have to close the position first to release the same margin for another position.

I THINK NO NEED TO CLOSE JUST GIVE IT A TRY…
