Query regarding PCR

Good evening everyone…

A common anology among many is that the trend of a stock or its f&o or indices can be interpreted by Put call ratio to judge at least the current scenario for a day or a week… few even consider this as a holy grail to infer the trend…

In PCR, if the ratio is above 1, its that people are writing puts than calls in options… That’s true but at the same time, if a long put is being executed, there should be a shorter too for the exact strike and premium right? That only will give the OI… So here if the population or volume of put writers are considered as a sign of bearish trend, it on the other hand gives the equal probability to consider that as a sign of bullish trend from the view of a put shorter, based on its OI and also its ratio called as PCR…

The common word amongst investors is that the options traders are smart in judging the trend and if so, when it comes to PCR, when it exceeds 1, it should also be considered as bullish and as those who short puts are too smarter right?

Clarification needed…

Thanks in advance…
