Query regarding T+2 delivery

Hi Guys,

I bought some stocks on Thursday (for delivery) and I can see them in my ‘holdings’ on Friday (Today). As I know, usually it takes T+2 days for stocks to be delivered but as I can see them in my ‘holdings’ very next day, can I sell them?

Cheers!

You can, such trades are called BTST (Buy Today Sell Tomorrow)

Yeah, but I thought for BTST, you specifically need to buy them as ‘BTST’.

Isn’t it?

Nothing like that. However there is restriction on some stock types, you can read more here

Ok, except the stocks which are part of T2T segment, we can buy stock on day 1 and then sell them on day 2 even if they were purchased for ‘delivery’?

You can. But before that do read the above article provided by @abhishek.vg, it explains everything, especially risks related to BTST.

Yeh, Thanks Shubh. I have gone through the article and clears up lots of things around short delivery. Not going to do this BTST with every other trade…Just that its good to know if I can or cannot. Thanks again.
