I have power grid 100 shares and has announced dividend 4/- and record date is 16th -11-23 I sold same 100 shares on 15th -11-23 whether i elegible for dividend or not because i sold one day before the record date
The record date is when the company checks its records to identify the eligible shareholders for a corporate action. Shareholders holding the shares in their demat accounts on the record date are eligible for corporate actions such as entitlement of rights shares, bonus shares, stock splits, dividends, etc.
Since you have sold the shares before the record date you will not be eligible for the dividends.
thank you
