I have been struggling with this for quite sometime. Internet is flooded with screener to filter stocks but what next? Screeners I agree to bring down universe but what I have noticed is much selection work remains to finally decide what to trade/invest in.

I have found that these screens are looking at point in time data with some dynamic conditions of say twice the standard deviation of X or something as per screener condition but still ratio of actually picking stocks from filtered universe for me is very less.

Tried AI like ChatGPT, Claude by giving them price charts of filtered assets but it feels like they also explain what is happening in chart rather than connecting dots.

Am I doing it wrong or what? Are there any proper systems for these I dont know about?

Hi Ansh, I’m Dishant, I built OptFolio (optfolio.in), so I’m biased, but you’re not doing it wrong: a screen only narrows the field. What helped me was a fixed second pass: rank the shortlist by relative strength vs Nifty and sector strength, favour pullbacks to support over extended names, and log every pick so you can see your real hit rate. With ChatGPT or Claude, pasting the actual numbers and asking it to rank and argue against each name works better than sending chart images. That ranking step is what OptFolio’s Top picks and portfolio scores are for, and the free plan is enough to try it.

Hey Ansh,

I feel you.
But if trading was so easy, so automatable, we all would be rich.
Assume that even the smartest person alive cannot predict to the market’s short term movement.
What you can do is essentially up your game to select the assets that show the highest potential in moving when the market moves.
There are no proper system that the world is hiding from you. Only people and their theories on how to manage market risk.
To make things simpler for people I build a market screener that is the easier to use than any of the competition and it give you a whatlist file you can import in trading. (though i would love to extend this feature for Zerodha, but they don’t have a import watchlist feature) .
In my screener you can simply type - distance from the 52-week high, relative volume, return vs Nifty, mention a candlestick pattern on any time frame like marabozou on the H4 or H6 or weekly , you can mention specific dates or anchor Vwaps to them.
But the last bit of analysing cannot be automated. those have to be your rules and your decision alone.
