The proposed hike in lot size whether for Index options or stock options would affect the retail investors. If it comes into vogue it would benefit traders with enough money to pay for margins. To be specific, middle -income and lower -middle income with a capital of less than 25K - 50K would be severely affected. Even now low premium options cannot be held overnight with a nudge saying that it would entail loss citing SEBi quidelines even though OI is very less. So what if a person buys CE @4 or 5Rs and either square it off at loss or profit even nearing expiry days. The max loss would be Rs100 -150. In a nutshell the markets are for the well-to-do only but they speak as if they stand for retail investors. Is there are proper range to classify retail investors!
