Hi, on Zerodha, today can I sell shares i bought day before yesterday? Any risks in doing this?
Hey Amol, you can, shares are credited to your Demat account on T+2 day, since you are selling shares on T+2 day there shouldn’t be any risk.
But I thought the shares get credited only end of second day. As of now they show as T1 only
Yes, shares will be credited by T+2 EOD, until the shares are credited the status will show as T1, this will change when shares are credited to your Demat account, explained in detail here.
If the shares aren’t in the Trade-To-Trade segment. you can sell shares before they are credited to your Demat account, this is known as BTST (Buy Today Sell Tomorrow), you can learn more about BTST here.
I also thought I can sell without any risks. But when I called zerodha today, they said there is a possibility of it ending up as short sell . So confused
