Short term loss or short sell?

Hello all,

I wanted to know if I sell some of my holdings in loss and buy it back the same day hoping to reduce my short term tax gain, so will it be considered a intraday short sell, or a short term loss(which I want ideally)

Selling shares from your holdings and buying back the same day will be considered as intraday trade.
