Should AUM be considered for a ELSS fund?

I have heard that AUM growing large is bad sign, since the chances of the AMC outperforming becomes comparatively less.

With the exception of Index MFs, where the portfolio & allocation is not determined by the AMC instead by the index itself.

Should ELSS MFs with AUM more than 20k crore be avoided ?

If everyone thought like this, would there be any AUM with over 2K Crore in ELSS?
