Inflation numbers and also Fed decision.

Looking at the way US markets bounced from last 3 weeks, it’s better to be light in position especially if we are bullish.

Benchmark indices finished the day with slight gains, halting a two-day losing streak. Dow and Nasdaq futures are trading higher.

Fintech lender disbursements increased two and a half times year on year to Rs 92,848 crore in the fiscal year ending March 2023 (FY23): Data from Fintech Association for Consumer Empowerment (FACE).

Domestic air passenger traffic in May 2023, as reported by ICRA, reached approximately 131.8 lahks, up by 2.3% month-on-month increase and 15% year-on-year growth.

The index of industrial production in India increased by 4.2% year on year in April 2023, owing mostly to higher output from the manufacturing sector, which increased by 4.9% year on year: According to data from the National Statistical Office (NSO).

The Central Government announced that it released Rs 1.18 lakh crore to states as tax devolution - more than double the “normal monthly devolution” of Rs 59,140 crore, to enable states to speed up capital spending and finance their development-related expenditure.

Nifty and Sensex surged over half a percent, closing in green for the second session in a row. US futures too are trading higher.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales grew by 13.54% YoY to 334,247 units in May, Two-wheeler domestic sales were up 17.42% YoY to 1,471,550 units in May, While, three-wheeler sales grew 70.42% to reach 48,732 units in May 23: SIAM

Zydus Lifesciences announced that it has received final approval from the USFDA to manufacture and market the generic version of Varenicline tablets which is used to treat smoking addiction and had annual sales of $501 million in the US.

Japan’s benchmark Nikkei surged 1.8% to close over 33,000 for the first time in 33 years, led by technology shares on expectations of a flood of investments in chip-related companies.

Declining for 12 consecutive months, US CPI Inflation in May 2023 came in at 4%, posting the slowest annual growth after March 2021.

India’s WPI inflation reached a record low of -3.48% YoY, the lowest since November 2015. The decline is mainly due to falling prices of mineral oils, basic metals, food products, textiles, non-food articles, crude petroleum & natural gas, and chemical products.

According to Bank of America’s report, Apple is expected to transfer more than 18% of its global iPhone production to India by FY25, thanks to the government’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for mobile phones. India’s share in global iPhone production is 7% as of FY23.

Vodafone Idea gained 7% before closing at 2% on reports indicating that the company has proposed a near-term infusion of Rs 14,000 crore in equity as part of its business revival plan.

USDINR hit the monthly high of 82.053 primarily on account of strong corporate flows, tepid dollar and strong domestic data.

India’s merchandise trade deficit rose to its highest level since December 2022 to $22.12 billion in May against $15.24 billion in April as imports fell 6.6% to $57.1 billion, while exports declined 10.3% to $34.98 billion.

India’s palm oil imports in May this year witnessed a decline of 14.59%, amounting to 4,39,173 tonnes, according to the industry body SEA. In contrast, there was a significant increase in the shipments of crude sunflower oil.

India’s domestic air travel traffic rose 36% year on year in May, with 1.32 crore people. Domestic aviation traffic increased 2.5% month on month in May compared to April: DGCA

The Indian Pharma Market recorded the second straight month of double-digit growth at 10% in May on account of low base, volume growth, and strong demand across key therapies.

As per provisional data by Exchanges, FIIs net buy figure was Rs 3,085.51 cr, while DIIs net sell was Rs 297.88 cr in equities today.

ONGC, India’s top oil and gas producer, has signed an MoU with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) to explore petrochemical opportunities in the downstream sector, including greenfield projects and acquisitions.

Private sector banks have witnessed a 44% rate of slippages and loan write-offs, higher than the 23% rate observed in public sector banks, as per the report by India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra).

Foxconn Technology Group plans to commence iPhone manufacturing at its upcoming Devanahalli plant in Karnataka, India by April 2024, as revealed by M.B. Patil, Minister for Large and Medium Industries.
