Does lot means size of one unit of a stock ? If yes then is lot different for different stocks ?

For stocks in cash segment minimum order quantity is 1. However for f&o segment be it index or stock we have to buy x number of contracts at a minimum. This minimum tradable unit of x contracts is called a lot. x is the lot size and it varies depending on the underlying.
