On a serious note, I guess its literally a call made by a broker to client when there is a shortfall of margin for the positions held by the client to avoid squaring off. It should be a part of the Risk Management process.

A demand by a broker that an investor deposit further cash or securities to cover possible losses.
Do zerodha give a margin call, everytime before they square off a position?
Is it possible they can do it without informing the client?
