If you are an active day trader and looking at trading stock futures (i'd say Nifty and Banknifty is always better than stock futures), best to stick to the top 20 to 30 most liquid futures contract. Trading outside these can cause you significant damage over time in terms of impact cost because of a big bid/ask spread.
So atleast 200 crores a day of turnover on futures, you can see the most liquid contracts in this section of the NSE website.
