When can I square off the sold call or put options

I am a beginner so please help me out.

Can someone square off the position within a few minutes after selling a call or a put option or does one have to wait until the expiry of that option ?

Sure you can exit anytime after you have sold provided you have a buyer on the other side. Try to trade with liquid options where you have enough buyers and sellers and you wouldn’t find it difficult to enter or exit when you want.

You can square off the position anytym. Not compulsory to wait till expiry
