F&O stocks can certainly move 5% on a daily basis, but this need not be in one direction.

A stock could move from 500 to 508, fall to 503, then move to 509 and then fall back to 502, all of this on the same trading day. The net movement here is only 2 rupees but the overall movement is 25 rupees, which accounts for the 5%.

Wow! My first thought. But then, there is!

RCOM consistently has a minimum of 5% between high and low. Haven’t seen anything less. It could be far higher if you count all the zig-zag movements. Unitech was one earlier, which has been removed from f&o!
