# Which VPS are you using for algo trading — server location, specs, and cost?

Planning to shift my algo setup to a VPS for 24/7 uptime. Running intraday and delivery strategies on NSE equity using Python.
My home internet is unstable so I can’t rely on it for intraday — one disconnect during market hours and the algo misses an exit. Not acceptable even for paper trading.
Also with SEBI’s April 1 static IP requirement coming up, wanted to understand if a VPS static IP is accepted by brokers directly or do they need a residential IP? Does static IP come included with VPS or do you need to buy it separately?
And for anyone already running live — which provider, server location, monthly cost, and how much RAM are you actually using for 2-3 strategies running simultaneously?

can u share which vps are u using, its costing server location etc? i am searching free options mumbai location, tried oracle but it dosnt work out it wasted my 1-2weeks, so shifted to google free trial working fine with good cpu and ram

for forex there are multiple options, i am doing algo trading in india so i was looking for free reliable vps
any vps who is near to broker/exchange server works fine

They offer Indian ips. So should be suited for trading Indian markets. Wanted to know if anyone here uses them.

Why would anyone give away free compute and IPv4, both of which are quite expensive these days? 🧐
For me running a swing/positional strategy that is not compute heavy, the cloud cost (X) is negligible compared to brokerage (3X) and gov/exchange charges (30X). 💸

so many company give free static ip 1gb ram version as always free, oracle google aws etc
i am using google free trial 300$ 90d trial, u can easily host 16gb ram 3-4vcore for 3months free and they have too many options for location so no issue either

A few important things to keep in mind when using enterprise cloud providers:
1. Free instances typically come with no uptime guarantees. They can be stopped, throttled, or de-prioritized when there is high demand in the data center.
2. The initial VM pricing you see usually does not include several components such as bandwidth (data transfer), storage (disks/snapshots), and other ancillary services. These can add up quickly.
3. It’s important to regularly check the billing dashboard to understand exactly what you’re being charged for. Without careful monitoring, you might run out of your free credits sooner than you thought and on top of that may end up with an unexpectedly high bill.
That said, if you understand the pricing model well and optimize your usage, enterprise cloud platforms can actually be very cost-effective.

yup i am doing the same, using instance which cost around 70$ a month keeping buffer + checking daily usage (atleast this can be done when service is free)

Any rec for windows vps?
I am kind of stuck. A vpn I was counting on does not play well with 4g hotspot ☹
Any recomendations? I dont use Linux

dont go for windows vps it will cost u more, linux are best they run exactly same
if u were using hotspot i think u get high delay ? u can buy static ip 300-400 a month i guess
i am currently using goolge free trial for 3months working good using over a week, u get mumbai region also for paid i have no idea

The hotspot is for special situations. I have never used Linux 🙂

currently most of people use terminal only in vps also no gui, so any ai tool will help around it how to do everything
