I have investments into multiple debt funds, done at varying intervals, all less than one year.
Example:
ABSLI Savings Fund, multiple lumpsum investments done from May
ICICI Ultra Short Term Fund, multiple random lumpsum investments done from July
Looking at the absolute returns of these two funds, I cannot compare their performance with each other and find out which one is performing better.
With XIRR (even when it is less than 1 year), I can compare the annualized performance of these funds with each other, i.e. how much they are growing annually.
Currently, I have to do all this in Excel with =XIRR() forumula. Would be really great if I am able to see all this without the manual calculations.
Kindly look at the Excel calculations I do in absense of XIRR on the Coin app. Do suggest if I am doing it wrong or if there is a better way to do it.
Apart from this, I have detected a bug in Coin where XIRR is shown for my NIFTY50 Index fund which is active for less than a year and is shown as 0 for all other debt category funds. When I reported this as a ticket, it was closed saying that I won’t be able to see XIRR before 1 year.
