The above will show you Top 100 companies of India by Market Capitalization. Now that you have the names of Top 100, you can pick and chose which 5 you want to buy for long term.
Please do not go by tips or ask someone to give names of stocks to buy - this is a sure shot way to disaster. Each individual is separate and each person has a different perspective. It is not necessary that the person giving you the tips are trying to cheat you, but they are giving it based on their opinion. This you need to avoid.
You need to take a decision based on your reasons for getting into stock market, what is the purpose and what your ultimate objective is. Remember anyone can give you names, just like I picked up 100 companies, but you need to take the ultimate call. If you are new to stock market, please understand the implications and the risk you are taking.

If you are investing for long term, I would recommend find some quality stocks - stocks that help many human beings, stocks that help nature and environment, eco friendly company stocks , etc . Look out for companies that you use products of since very long time . If you can trust the products of that company, you definately can buy their stocks because you trust them , find stocks with low price to book ratio. If they are available at discount, there’s a high chance the price might go up ( afcourse if the company is good) . These are few of many tips . At the end follow your gut and take informed, calculated decisions they always help.
