What makes you think that if you have 500+ stocks, Kite wouldn’t update the individual stock prices?
Kite is a trading platform, when the market is open, the prices keep updating, whether you hold 50 stocks, 500, or even more. It wouldn’t make much sense for it to update hourly, daily, or weekly just because the number of holdings crossed 500.
And if you’re talking about the capacity, I remember seeing someone from Zerodha itself who had something like 3,000 different stocks in their holdings. So I’d assume the system can handle way more than 500.
@Rohith_Raj , Thank You for the link. Thats extreme case (3000 +) and beating gsec interest is another interesting note .
Also this comment
“If you own everything, you never have to feel the pain of missing a multi-bagger. But the cost of curing that FOMO is accepting structural mediocrity. He has successfully hedged away the risk of being wrong, but he has also hedged away the possibility of being right. This portfolio is the worst of both worlds,” Shubham Bagade said.
For accounts with a large number of holdings, the Kite portfolio section is not updated in real time. Streaming live prices for hundreds of holdings at once puts a heavy load on your browser or device, which can make the page slow or unresponsive. To avoid this and keep Kite running smoothly, live updates are limited for larger portfolios.
I’m confirming the exact update frequency with the team and will share it here shortly.
