Every week, we are hearing about one or the other tools like chat GPT which only seem to get better and better and as per the people who does real work in tech, there is a caution now that these tools might make lot of jobs redundant.
For example, Indian IT industry employees more than 5 million ppl , how many people will they get affected? what about the people who work in customer service ? what about analysts who are into predicting business and markets using data. these machines can do a better job. How will society tackle this issue? for companies, it might result in cost cutting but eventually, when overall society is under distress. companies will suffer too.
I used to think so far that no matter how smart the engine is, there needs to be a human who operates it . That might be applicable in some cases but the number of human employees required would be too low compared to what it is right now.
what’s the way out from this emerging danger scenario? are the fears warranted? or is it another passing cloud - because I remember when computers came in 90s , there was widespread panic that it will replace human jobs but it created many jobs which weren’t even possible back then.
@nithin @Karthik and @Knadh - How are you looking at this emerging situation. your thoughts please
